Our commitment to the community: Backshop donates €10,000 to local charities
At this festive time of reflection and togetherness, we would like to share with you some of the community engagement that has become traditional for our company. As in previous years, we have decided to forgo gift-giving and instead donate money to several non-profits working to positively influence the lives of those in desperate need.
We are delighted to inform you that our donations, totalling €10,000, have gone to benefit three wonderful organisations operating near our offices. The organisations in question are the Kinderhospiz Sternenbrücke children’s hospice, the Bus Vierjahreszeiten mobile support bus and the children’s cancer charity Verein zur Förderung krebskranker Kinder.
The Kinderhospiz Sternenbrücke in Hamburg provides support, love and care to families with children suffering from life-limiting conditions. Even in the darkest times, the staff’s dedication and support create moments of joy and warmth.
The Bus Vierjahreszeiten in Halle is more than just an organisation: it’s a community dedicated to helping underprivileged people. Some of our staff recently had the opportunity to join the volunteer team for a shift and see for themselves the difference our donation is making on the ground. Up to three times a week, the bus travels around the city to offer food, warm clothes and more to people in need.
The Verein zur Förderung krebskranker Kinder in Halle is dedicated to fighting one of the hardest challenges faced by children and families. Our donation will help the children’s cancer charity offer families hope and a path to a brighter future.
“We firmly believe that collective efforts can help improve the lives of those who are most in need of support,” said Christian Sommer, head of purchasing and sales, of the decision to donate to the charities. “What these organisations do is incredible, and we are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to their important work,” added Kai Gebel, head of logistics and IT.
