Why we consciously choose sporting charity events

Sport, community and a clear social purpose are a common thread that runs through all our activities.
Starting with our partnership with Baltic Lights, 2026 will be a year dominated by sporting charity formats for us. These are formats that have a special meaning for us beyond our day-to-day business and which we see as an investment in the future.
Commitment that makes our stance visible
As a company that deals with one of the most basic foodstuffs on a daily basis, we are very aware of the importance of security of supply – and what it means when there are insufficient resources even for this. This makes it all the more important for us to take action where concrete help is provided and social responsibility does not remain abstract.
At the same time, we believe in the unifying power of sport. Sport brings people together, attracts attention and conveys issues with a certain lightness that touches people emotionally.
When this results in concrete support for charitable causes, it is a combination that we wholeheartedly embrace.
Baltic Lights: Kick-off of a special year of commitment
With Baltic Lights, we are the official team partner for an event in 2026 that is extraordinary in many ways. A dog sled race on the beach, prominent participants, a special setting and a well-thought-out concept that combines entertainment, sporting ambition and charity. The fact that the event deliberately breaks away from classic winter sports formats and, thanks to its beach setting, is not dependent on weather conditions, makes it not only unusual but also accessible to a wide audience.
For us, many things come together here: the special spirit of the event, the strong public attention and the clear charitable approach. This is because a large part of the proceeds go to Welthungerhilfe, for which additional donations are generated during the event. This transparency and focus were a key factor in our decision.
As an official team partner, we are not only visibly represented, but also actively involved: At Baltic Lights Night, the gala evening that is the highlight of the event, we complement the culinary offerings for the invited guests. At our own stand, we present selected products that have been refined by members of our staff and are offered for consumption. We expressly do not see our involvement as merely a logo presence, but as participation – together, personally and on an equal footing.
Team Rynkeby: personal motivation meets collective commitment
In the summer, Team Rynkeby will be hosting another sporting charity event that is particularly close to our hearts for several reasons. We are supporting Team Hamburg as a gold sponsor. The proceeds from the German teams will go to the German Children’s Cancer Foundation.
The impetus for this commitment came from our own team: one of our employees approached us with the project because her partner is actively participating in the tour. He is riding on behalf of a close friend who had long wanted to do so, but then fell ill with cancer and passed away two years ago. This story touched us – not as an isolated case, but as an example of how quickly such issues often become personal.
Here, too, the combination of sport, community and charity fits in very well with our self-image. Team Rynkeby stands for endurance, solidarity and the will to make a difference together. We see it as a natural part of our commitment that we as a company can make a contribution to support this initiative.
Kicken mit Herz: Regional ties and long-term prospects
Kicken mit Herz has become an integral part of our commitment. We were involved as a sponsor for the first time in 2024. The atmosphere on site, the dedication of the organisers and the clear idea behind the event convinced us so much that we extended our commitment to 2025. We will also be providing similar support in 2026.
The proceeds from Kicken mit Herz go directly to the paediatric cardiology department at the University Medical Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf. For us, supporting paediatric medicine is a guarantee for the future in many ways: thanks to donations like these, developments are made possible that significantly improve the lives of chronically ill children and their families. This is not just about making everyday life easier, but often about new perspectives and real chances of recovery.
Here, too, we are not only present financially but also a part of the supporting programme. On the sidelines of the game, members of our team run a throwing stand with prizes, providing additional entertainment for our youngest visitors. Our short retrospective shows what this looked like last year.
No short-term return – but sustainable value
We deliberately view each of these commitments as an investment. Not in sales, but in social responsibility, sustainability and cooperation that goes beyond economic interests.
Whether it’s fighting cancer, heart disease in children or global hunger, all these initiatives contribute to improving living conditions in the long term. For future generations. As a company, we see it as our duty to actively follow this path.
